A Crawler No More

Well, the title isn't exactly true, but last night, James took his first step...and his second...and his third. It was amazing because he took one step at a time at first and then all of a sudden, there he was taking three steps right in a row! (Then he fell). But he definitely is more daring in trying to walk, so I'm sure my life is going to change again here in the next month where I'm going to have to chase him around at an even faster pace. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get his steps on camera (he was a little camera shy when we finally got it there). But as soon as I can, I'll post a video of it. But here's a video of him standing so that you can kind of get the idea.

James...James, what are you eating?!

I turned my back for 1 second and James had managed to get these from their hiding spot behind the table and chow down half the bag. I never suspected a thing until it had been suspiciously quiet for more than one minute. He loved them so much, I almost felt bad taking them away. Poor little guy probably was wondering why the food we usually feed him doesn't taste that good. I'll never figure out how he inately knew that it was edible.

Just getting Started

I decided that all my friends have blogs that I love to look at and know what they're up to, so I'm going to try to be on top of it (like them) and give them the same opportunity to know what I'm doing as well.

James is now 10 months old and is standing by himself and walking around the furniture. Today for the first time, he picked up one of his feet and repositioned (I wouldn't really call it a step yet) so he's well on his way to walking. I'm excited and scared of this. He's already getting into everything, but I'm sure it's going to be ten times worse when he can actually RUN away from me instead of just crawling quickly. But we're having fun all the same trying to teach him and watching him discover new things for himself.

Paul and I are still in Pebble Beach looking for a permanent job. While caddying is a good paying job, it's not exactly what we had in mind for his career. But we're grateful for the blessing of having it all the same. He's just finished up this week with the last thing he needs to do for the border patrol application, so now it's just a waiting game until they finish the background check and let us know. Possibly the strangest thing he's had to do for either of these jobs is the psychological exam that he completed on Tuesday. They had him fill out a questionairre that had 170 questions ranging from whether he has suicidal thoughts to whether he feels extremely scared of hurricanes to whether he liked to play with dolls as a child. It was REALLY weird! But luckily for him, that's all over.

So that should bring everyone up to speed on our lives for the last few months.
